You are strongly advised to read carefully over the privilege mechanics, player-centered design, and intimacy/violence policies. Prior to sign-up, it is important to consider that:

  • This larp may be intense (emotionally, creatively, and physically), and will not suit the comfort levels and preferences of all larpers.
  • Character preferences will directly impact a player’s gameplay, resulting in less comfortable accommodations, time constraints on art-making, and/or dish-washing responsibilities. Preferences that impact the type of character and gameplay you receive will be much more difficult to accommodate and change down the line, so please be aware of what you’re opting in for when filling out the sign-up form.
  • The initial casting process will be roughly 75% lottery and 25% casting. It is largely a lottery system, so please be honest about your preferences. That said, we need to fill a certain number of spots for each Major, so the more flexible and broad your preferences, the easier you will be to cast.
  • This is a larp with an emphasis on physicality. Per Katrine Wind’s “House of Bravery” model, in order to participate in this larp, you should feel comfortable with the following floor/baseline intimacy: receiving a hug from an out-of-game stranger.

Disclaimer: a player’s artistic abilities will not affect their initial casting in the larp. It may affect role-selection and character design, but artistic ability will not decrease or increase any applicant’s chances in the lottery. This larp has been designed to create an environment of free artistic expression and experimentation, so no skill or previous training is required to participate.

Payment and Refund Policy

The ticket price for Vanitas is $750. Lodging and meals are included in your ticket, but you are responsible for your own costuming and transportation to and from the venue.

You will have the option of paying the full ticket price at once or in three separate monthly installments. Due to billing fees, the total cost of paying in installments will be slightly higher than all at once.

First payment deadline: Feb. 16, 2026, 11:59 PM EST.

Refunds

You may request a full refund for one month after the first payment deadline. After one month, you will be expected to find your own replacement in order to obtain a refund.

The organizing team will, of course, aid you in the search and conduct most of the heavy-lifting by contacting waitlist reserves, but the financial responsibility for the ticket and refund fall entirely on the participant.

Pinterest Board

We created a Pinterest board (because of course we did) to capture the vibes, setting, and aesthetics we envision for this larp, as well as to inspire the sort of experimentation with art and physicality that we’d like to encourage in our players.
